The Art of Resilience Takes Shape at CCHS

CCHS students are turning an important lesson into a lasting work of art through The Art of Resilience, a student-led mural project focused on strength, growth, and perseverance.
The project began with a virtual assembly that introduced students to the meaning behind resilience — the idea that challenges do not define us, but how we respond to them does. The mural will show the courage it takes to face obstacles, learn from setbacks, and support one another. When finished, it will serve as a reminder that everyone has the ability to grow stronger through difficult times.
Students are working with visiting artist Rae Frasier to design and paint the mural. By sharing their ideas and creativity, students are helping create a piece of art that represents the spirit and unity of CCHS.
“One thing that connects us as humans is that we’ve all had to overcome something, persevere through something and heal from it,” said Frasier.
This mural is part of a larger partnership with the Albany Housing Coalition. Through this initiative, students have been learning about resilience from local veterans and community members. They have also connected with Bring on the Spectrum, gaining a better understanding of inclusion and the different ways people show strength.
When the mural is complete, students will gift it to Conners House, a veterans home in Albany. The artwork is meant to honor the veterans who live there and thank them for their service. It is also a message of hope and support from CCHS students.
Through this project, students are doing more than painting a wall. They are building connections, learning from others, and creating something meaningful that will make a difference in the community.
