South Colonie Voters Approve 2025-26 School Budget and Bus Proposition; Brian Casey Re-Elected to Bo

On Tuesday, May 20, South Colonie Central School District voters approved the proposed $139.5 million budget for the 2025-26 school year. The spending plan maintains all current programs, expands student support services, and reflects continued investments aligned with the district’s Next Generation Capital Project. The budget proposition passed by 69.8% with 754 yes votes and 327 no votes.
“This budget reflects our ongoing dedication to creating safe, modern learning environments and ensuring every student has access to the support and opportunities they need to succeed,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. David Perry. “ We are grateful for our community’s strong support of education and the future of South Colonie.”
In addition to the budget, voters approved a separate proposition to purchase 10 replacement buses, including a mix of full-size, mid-size, small passenger, and wheelchair-accessible vehicles. The total cost will not exceed $1.83 million, with up to 63.5% eligible for state aid reimbursement.The plan also includes a 24-passenger electric bus, with no cost to taxpayers after state aid is applied. The proposition passed with 737 YES votes and 341 NO votes.
Voters also re-elected Brian Casey to the Board of Education for another five-year term. Casey will continue serving through June 30, 2030.
