For the first time since before 2020, the NYSATA Legislative Exhibit is returning as a live, in-person event! Colonie student artists will have their work on display this May at the Legislative Office Building (LOB) in Albany as part of the largest public student art exhibit held in a government building.

Each year, the exhibit gives students a chance to share their creativity with a wider audience, including state lawmakers. Families can also arrange meet-and-greets with local legislators, giving students a behind the scenes look at the legislative process while discussing their art.

“The students are always so excited to see their work displayed in such a big setting,” said Christina Norris, art educator at CCHS. “It’s a great opportunity for them to feel proud of what they’ve created and to see that art has a place in our community and beyond.”

The event will wrap up on the third-floor terrace level of the LOB, where students, families, and teachers will gather to celebrate the young artists. At the end of the exhibit, each participant will receive a Certificate from NYSATA and a copy of the event brochure as a keepsake.

Colonie Central High School’s participation in the NYSATA Legislative Exhibit is just one example of how the South Colonie continues to encourage creativity and self-expression in students. Congratulations to all of the students whose artwork will be featured in this year’s exhibit.
