Colonie students engage in leadership and wellness at the 7th Annual Youth Summit

On March 6, students from Colonie Central High School joined peers from across the region at the 7th Annual Youth Summit at the Albany Capital Center. Hosted by the Northeastern Community Action Partnership, the event focused on the empowering theme: “I BELIEVE IN ME.”
The summit provided students with the opportunity to participate in interactive workshops, hands-on activities, and discussions centered on mental health, substance use prevention, and leadership development. Throughout the day, students engaged in activities that emphasized teamwork, resilience, and informed decision-making, while also hearing from experts in mental wellness, advocacy, and law enforcement.
Students explored ways to manage stress, make healthy choices, and develop leadership skills through various group challenges and guided discussions. They also connected with professionals in health, wellness, and community outreach who provided real-world perspectives on important issues affecting young people today.
“The Youth Summit is a fantastic opportunity for our students to step outside of the classroom and engage in meaningful conversations about their future,” said Colonie Central High School Associate Principal Melissa Judge. “Events like this empower them to think critically, take charge of their own well-being, and become leaders within our school community.”
By participating in the summit, Colonie students gained insights that align with the district’s commitment to student wellness, leadership, and personal growth. They returned to school with a greater awareness of how to support one another, advocate for themselves, and make informed choices about their future.
