Substitute Teachers

The district has a continual need for substitute teachers to work in our schools. However, the hiring and monitoring of all substitute teachers is NOT done by the district but is coordinated through the Capital Region BOCES Substitute Coordination Service. Interested in working a few hours a day/week in Food Service?

Interested in working just a few hours a day/week while you child is in school? The South Colonie Food Service Department is taking applications for substitute Food Service Helpers. You choose the building(s) you wish to work in. Substitute Custodial positions also available at all schools and offices

South Colonie Schools has substitute custodial positions available at all schools and offices. Shifts are 4-8 hours a day. 

Open-ended job postings

Applications are always accepted for many full-time, part-time and substitute support staff positions. When an opening occurs, applications will be forwarded to the hiring supervisor for review. A printable application is posted next to each position type below.

Bus Driver – Requires high school diploma or equivalent and CDL B Driver License with P and S endorsements. 

School Monitor – School Monitors are needed for both school buildings and school buses. Position requires high school diploma or equivalent. Establishes good rapport with students. NYS Department of Education pre-service course (provided by district). 

Food Service Helper –Requires high school diploma or equivalent. Cashier experience helpful.

Custodial Worker – Requires high school diploma or equivalent and previous work experience doing cleaning. Works individually and as part of a team.

Occasional Worker – Works during summer and vacation breaks in maintenance, computer/technology or clerical fields. Requires high school diploma or equivalent. 

Clerical Worker – Requires high school diploma or equivalent and good computer skills. Previous experience doing clerical work preferred. Substitute position, filling in as needed.
