Hanley Family Honors Hunter Hanley Through Scholarships for BOCES Grads

The Hanley family is honoring the memory of former Colonie Central High School Student Hunter Hanley by giving back to students pursuing Career and Technical Education programs through BOCES this year.
Hunter, a former Colonie Central High School student who passed away in 2021, had hoped to attend a BOCES program himself. In recognition of that goal and the opportunities CTE programs provide students, the Hanley family plans to award a scholarship to each graduating senior completing a BOCES program this school year.
The awards were presented a few days before graduation to celebrate the hard work and dedication students have shown while preparing for careers in fields ranging from skilled trades to health sciences and technology.
“Hunter was someone who cared deeply about finding his path and building a future for himself,” said Assistant Superintendent for Instruction Thomas Kachadurian, who served as principal of Colonie Central High School at the time of Hunter’s passing. “This is an incredibly thoughtful way for the Hanley family to honor his memory while also supporting students who are taking important steps toward their own futures. It speaks to the kind of impact Hunter and his family continue to have on our Colonie community.”
Scholarships were awarded to 26 graduating BOCES CTE students participating in this year’s senior cohort, with each student receiving a $200 award.
