No Place for Hate Earns Gold Star Recognition

The No Place for Hate club at Colonie Central High School officially earned a gold star on its No Place for Hate certificate by exceeding the required number of activities. In recognition of their outstanding work, the Board of Education honored the No Place for Hate club on Tuesday, May 26.
This achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of club members who have gone above and beyond to increase inclusivity across our district. The club's work included awareness campaigns led by club president Mariah Durenay and fellow members who created educational video skits, updated over one hundred slides for the Diversity Calendar, and collaborated on a building-wide virtual assembly about resilience.
“Our club has truly set the bar high this year,” said Kristen Zepf, French teacher and No Place for Hate advisor. “To see them earn a gold star by exceeding our activity requirements, and to receive recognition from the Board of Education, reflects their commitment to building an inclusive community.”
This year's accomplishments included earning national recognition as a No Place for Hate school for the third consecutive year and reaching 1,300 pledge signatures—the highest number in school history.
