Second-Generation Speaker Delivers Father's Holocaust Survival Story to Middle School Students

More than eight decades after the Holocaust, students at Sand Creek Middle School had the opportunity to hear a powerful story of survival and resilience.
Told through the lens of a second generation Holocaust speaker, Arnie Adler shared the experiences of his father, Bernard. Through stories passed down from father to son, students learned about the realities of life during the Holocaust and the lasting impact the tragedy continues to have on survivors and their families.
“He [Bernard] had been a witness to history and he was giving me a job. A job to share his story with you all,” said Adler.
During the presentation, Adler reflected on the hardships his father endured, including loss, fear, and the lasting trauma caused by the Holocaust. As the number of living survivors continues to decline, Adler explained it has become the responsibility of the next generation to tell the real-life stories of those who lived through these tragedies.
