South Colonie Central School District Approves $147.6 Million Budget for 2026-27 School Year

Community Votes to Support Academic Growth and Capital Improvements
The South Colonie Central School District community has approved the measure to invest in our students' future. On May 19, 2026, district voters approved a $147.6 million budget for the 2026-27 school year. The budget passed by 71.8% of voters, 749 yes votes and 297 no votes.
The approved spending plan maintains all current academic programs while expanding educational offerings and continuing strategic investments tied to the district's Next Generation Capital Project. This balanced approach ensures that every student in the Wolf Pack has access to rigorous academics, comprehensive support services, and modern learning environments.
"Today's vote reflects the community's confidence in our vision for South Colonie's future," said Jacqlene McAllister, Assistant Superintendent of Management Services and Strategic Planning. "We are deeply grateful for the support of our families and taxpayers. This budget allows us to honor our commitment to every student and helps them thrive. Together, we will continue to create spaces of high-level opportunity for the next generation of the Wolf Pack."
In addition to the budget, voters also considered three additional propositions:
-
Bus Purchase: A $1.69 million proposition to purchase 10 replacement vehicles, 720 YES votes and 318 NO votes.
-
Capital Project: A proposal to use $4.7 million from the capital reserve for classroom cooling, 751 YES votes and 289 NO votes.

"We are grateful for the community's vote of confidence in our district's vision. This budget represents our promise to invest in rigorous academics, comprehensive student support, and facilities that inspire learning. With this approval, we can expand opportunities for every child—from early literacy to college readiness—and ensure that South Colonie remains a place where our students flourish."
Voters also re-elected Christopher Larrabee to the Board of Education for a five-year term and welcomed Jennifer Jones as a new board member. Both ran unopposed and will serve through June 30, 2031.
