South Colonie & North Colonie Team Up for 20th Annual Stuff the Bus for Toys for Tots Collection

South Colonie Central School District is celebrating 20 years of our annual Stuff the Bus for Toys for Tots collection drive. To mark this exciting anniversary, the district is launching a “20 for 20” campaign to bring together at least 20 community partners to support our goal of our largest collection effort to date. To expand the effort, South Colonie is teaming up with crosstown rival North Colonie Central School District.
Starting on September 25, when the Colonie football team takes on Shaker, fans attending the game at Shaker High School are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate to Toys for Tots. Throughout the fall sports season, the following matches will be “Toys for Tots” games where community members and fans can bring a new toy to the game support the effort:
- Friday, September 25 – Varsity Football @ Shaker HS
- Monday, October 5 – Girls Tennis @ CCHS
- Tuesday, October 6 – Boys Soccer @ Shaker HS
- Tuesday, October 6 – Girls Soccer @ CCHS
- Tuesday October 6 – Girls Volleyball @ CCHS
- Friday, October 9 – Field Hockey @ Shaker HS
- Wednesday, October 28 – Boys Volleyball @ Shaker HS
“We’ve seen this effort grow every year because people in our community believe in taking care of one another,” said South Colonie Superintendent Dr. David Perry. “Twenty years is an incredible milestone, and we want to celebrate it by bringing even more people into this effort. Our hope is that 20 for 20 gives businesses, organizations, families and our neighboring school district an opportunity to be part of something that has become an important holiday tradition in Colonie.”
"We are excited to team up with our crosstown rivals at South Colonie to support such an important cause in Toys for Tots,” said North Colonie Superintendent Kathleen Skeals. “The Colonie Cup game is the perfect way to kick off our collaboration! We look forward to including so many of our students and families to help make this holiday season memorable for children in our community."
Businesses and organizations can also take part by becoming a campaign sponsor, hosting a toy collection or finding another way to support the drive throughout the holiday season. Those interested in becoming a 20 for 20 community partner can contact South Colonie District Clerk Amber Lanigan at lanigana@scolonie.org.
