Colonie Senior Eva Favors Receives DAR Good Citizen Award

Colonie Central High School senior Eva Favors has been named the recipient of the DAR Good Citizen Award, which recognizes students for leadership, service, dependability and patriotism.
Favors has pursued one of the most challenging social studies course schedules available at Colonie High School while remaining actively involved in civic and community organizations. She has participated in Model United Nations and Youth Court, and is known by teachers and peers for being informed, curious and engaged.
Her commitment to public service extends beyond the classroom. Favors has volunteered with the Boys & Girls Club, served as a poll worker, and currently interns with Assemblymember Phil Steck. She also volunteers with the League of Women Voters.
“The award recognizes and rewards individuals who possess the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism in their homes, schools and communities,” said Colonie Central High School Principal Bill Behrle. “These students are selected by their teachers and peers. We are proud of Eva and are thrilled to recognize her for her leadership in these qualities.”
Favors plans to continue her interest in government and public policy after graduation. This fall, she will attend George Washington University, where she plans to major in political science with a focus on public policy.
