South Colonie Seniors Take Part in Students in Local Government Day

South Colonie seniors recently stepped outside of the classroom for a tour of parts of our local government.
The 47th Annual Students in Local Government Day introduces local high school students to government operations. Throughout the day, students met representatives from the Town of Colonie Public Safety Center, Latham Water, and Pure Waters and took tours of their operations.

This day also fulfills part of the Seal of Civic Readiness requirement for Colonie Central High School students. Social Studies teachers select the individuals who will take part from seniors in their Participation in Government (P.I.G.) course.
“As part of the Seal of Civic Readiness program, this experience empowers students to understand their communities, amplify their voices, and build the skills needed to shape the future,” said Colonie Central High School Principal Bill Behrle. “This is an opportunity to mold students into confident, informed, and connected citizens.”
