KidWind challenges students to design and build their own renewable energy solutions, encouraging hands-on learning in engineering, sustainability, and problem-solving.
“This competition is a great example of STEAM learning in action,” said Gregory Bearup, South Colonie’s Supervisor of STEAM Programming. “Students are applying science and engineering concepts, using creativity and critical thinking, and working collaboratively to design solutions to real-world energy challenges.”
First place winners from Sand Creek Middle School, the Waddling Penguins, received an invitation to the global championships taking place in Madison, Wisconsin this May. Second place also went to a Sand Creek team, the Beaming Godzillas.
