James Haertel Nominated for the Manilow Music Teacher Award

Colonie Central High School teacher James Haertel has been nominated for the prestigious Manilow Music Teacher Award, a national honor that recognizes outstanding music educators who make an impact on their students and school communities.
The Manilow Music Teacher Award shines a spotlight on the vital role that music educators play in shaping well-rounded students and vibrant school communities. The winner receives $10,000 in support: $5,000 in cash and $5,000 to purchase instruments for their classroom. The winner will also receive VIP tickets to Barry Manilow’s concert at MVP Arena in April and will be presented their award in person during a special backstage ceremony with Manilow.
“We are honored to see Mr. Haertel’s dedication recognized on a national level,” said Principal Bill Behrle. “This recognition reflects not only his exceptional talent and dedication, but also the vital role music education plays in our school community.”
