Colonie High School ICARE Launches Homeless Support Bag Drive to Aid Albany Housing Coalition

Colonie High School’s ICARE program has launched a Homeless Support Bag Drive as part of their ongoing commitment to community service. Between now and Dec. 23, essential cold weather and personal care items will be collected to fill 100 drawstring backpacks purchased by ICARE. These bags will be delivered to the Albany Housing Coalition to assist individuals and families experiencing homelessness in the Capital Region.
The bags will include much-needed supplies such as socks, hats, gloves, thermal blankets, hand warmers, toothbrushes, toothpaste, disposable razors and deodorant. These items offer vital comfort and support during the winter months, when many community members face the harshest conditions.
“Our ICARE students have shown incredible compassion and leadership,” said Tess McCarthy, associate principal. “This drive is a tangible way for our school community to support those in need and demonstrate the power of coming together to help our neighbors.”
Anyone from our school and local community is invited to participate. Items can be purchased directly from the ICARE Amazon Wishlist or donated to ICARE by cash or check (payable to ICARE). All donations will go toward purchasing items for the backpacks, and any remaining funds will be donated to the Albany Housing Coalition to further support their mission.

Together, we can make a meaningful difference for our neighbors in need and continue to demonstrate what it truly means to run with the Pack.
