South Colonie Central School District Welcomes Back Driver and Traffic Safety Education Program

The South Colonie Central School District is thrilled to announce the return of the Driver and Traffic Safety Education (DTSE) Program in partnership with Albany County. A press event celebrating the program’s relaunch was held on Thursday, September 25.
Starting this semester, the program is available to Colonie Central High School seniors through a lottery-based selection process. The course combines classroom instruction with in-car training, giving students the knowledge and hands-on experience they need to become safe and responsible drivers.
“Earning a driver’s license is a milestone for our students,” said Stephanie Luce, Associate Principal at Colonie Central High School. “We are proud to bring this program back in partnership with Albany County and look forward to providing seniors with a valuable opportunity that promotes both independence and responsibility.”
The return of driver education reflects South Colonie’s ongoing commitment to expanding learning opportunities and preparing students for life beyond the classroom.
