Colonie alum Chris Pappis was awarded a prestigious honor this summer. The American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) honored Pappis with the Heroes Medal at a ceremony at Walt Disney World in July. 

The award is given to exceptional individuals, honoring their unwavering dedication to their communities. Pappis currently serves as AHEPA District 6 Executive Secretary and graduated from South Colonie Central School District in 2003.

AHEPA is the largest and oldest American-based grassroots association of Greek heritage and Philhellenes. It was founded in 1922 to combat prejudice and assist Greek immigrants. Today, its mission is to promote the ancient Hellenic ideals of education, philanthropy, civic responsibility, and family and individual excellence through community service and volunteerism.
