On behalf of the South Colonie Central School District Board of Education, welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! 

The wonderful part of beginning a new school year is that everyone starts with a clean slate. Our students look forward to meeting new teachers, new classmates, and settling into new classrooms. Some students move on to new buildings - which can certainly be exciting, yet is often accompanied by more than a few butterflies in the stomach - for both the students and their parents! It’s important to remember - we are all in good company. Anyone who has a place in our district shares that same sense of excitement mixed with a bit of nervousness simply because those are the very indicators of new beginnings and clean slates. Let us all lean into the excitement and begin writing this year’s story.

South Colonie is beginning its 76th year of educating our community’s students and we are deep into Stage 1 of our multi-year Capital Project approved by voters in October 2022 - read more about the Capital Project here. By the time the project wraps up in the fall of 2028, each of our schools and all other buildings will have gone through extensive improvements to address aging infrastructure, improve instructional spaces, and provide essential safety upgrades districtwide. We are grateful for our South Colonie community’s support in upgrading and enhancing our students’ educational experiences.

This 2024-2025 school year also marks the official start of the Colonie Wolf Pack™ moniker and logo. In March 2023 our district embarked on a comprehensive rebranding process following a mandate from the New York State Education Department. Certainly, the rebranding decision and process was not easy for our district and for our South Colonie community, but we have made it through the journey and begin with a clean slate. Obviously, a lot of new and exciting things are happening in our district; nevertheless, our mission remains constant: to educate all students to their highest level of academic achievement, realize their full potential and prepare them to become responsible citizens in a global society.

I, and the South Colonie Board of Education, wish you and your students a great start to the 2024-2025 school year. Encourage your kids to take advantage of the opportunities provided in our district. Show your interest in their educational journey by joining (and attending) PTA meetings, Open Houses, and parent-teacher conferences, we guarantee your kids will take notice!
