Message from Superintendent Perry 2/25

Dear South Colonie Community, Faculty and Staff-

I hope this message finds you well and refreshed after the February break. As we return to our routines, it’s essential to extend a warm welcome back and also emphasize the importance of maintaining a safe and secure environment for our community, particularly in and around school zones.

We all share a collective responsibility for the safety of our students, parents, and pedestrians. With this in mind, we kindly ask everyone to be extra vigilant when driving through school zones. As we resume our daily activities, let’s make a conscious effort to:

  • Adhere to Speed Limits: Please respect and adhere to the posted speed limits in school zones. These limits are in place to ensure the safety of our students as they travel to and from school.
  • Stay Attentive: Keep your focus on the road, and be aware of your surroundings, especially in areas with heavy foot traffic. Pedestrians, including students, may be present, so it’s crucial to stay attentive and reduce distractions while driving.
  • Exercise Caution: Exercise caution when approaching crosswalks and intersections near schools. Always yield to pedestrians and follow traffic rules to create a safer environment for everyone.

By collectively following these guidelines, we can create a community where safety is a top priority. Let’s work together to ensure that our roads and school zones remain safe spaces for all.

Thank you for your cooperation, and welcome back!

Sincerely,

David Perry
