Three New Members Inducted Into Hall of Fame With Class of 2011

Colonie Central High School proudly inducted three new alumni into the Hall of Fame with the 2011 graduating class on June 24th. This year's Hall of Fame inductees were Paul Gordon, Raymond Roland and Brian Palazzolo.

CCHS Graduates Have Roles in SUNY Cortland Theater Production

The Performing Arts Department at SUNY Cortland recognizes former Colonie Central High School theater students, Angelia Golden, as a cast member, and Keith Golden, as an ensemble cast member, in the college production of the award-winning musical within a comedy, "The Drowsy Chaperone." full story

Golden Key International Honour Society Inducts CCHS Grad Katy Pinkham

State University of New York at Geneseo student, Katy Pinkham, has accepted membership in the Golden Key Honour Society and was honored during a recent induction ceremony. Pinkham is a 2009 graduate of Colonie Central High School. full story

scholarship check presentationBikers Present Check to SCDFS for Seyboth Tirador Music Scholarship

Hundreds of bikers took to the roads in August to raise money for the South Colonie Music Department in honor of the late Amy Seyboth Tirador, a Colonie graduate who died in November, 2009, from non-combat-related injuries received while serving in Iraq. While in school, Amy was actively involved in music. Last May, Amy was the first inductee into the new military wing of the Colonie Central High School Hall of Fame. The bikers, members of the Electrical Workers Local Union 236 Motorcycle Club, presented South Colonie's Dollars for Scholars chapter a check for $10,000 in November to create a music scholarship in Amy's name. VanEpps photoCCHS Graduate Dies in Friday Night Automobile Accident

South Colonie mourns the loss of Crystal R. VanEpps, who died in an automobile accident Friday night at the age of 21. She was a member of the Class of 2007 and attend South Colonie Schools all of her life. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ava Rose VanEpps Fund in c/o any Capital Communications branch. Alumni Association Donates to Dollars for Schools Phone-a-thon

The Colonie Central High School Alumni Association made a $150 donation to the South Colonie Dollars for Scholars Phone-a-thon from money raised through the second annual alumni picnic last summer.

Dollars for Scholars Phone-a-thon Raises Nearly $3,000 For Scholarships

Thank you to everyone who supported South Colonie Dollars for Scholars' first annual Phone-a-thon, which raised nearly $3,000 in scholarship money for this year's Colonie Central High School graduates. Thirty-two student volunteers from the CCHS Key Club and National Honor Society manned 13 phones on October 18 and received 158 pledges totaling $2,920.

CCHS Grad Named Valedictorian of Marist College Class of 2010

CCHS graduate, David Spado, has been named Valedictorian of the Marist College Class of 2010. David earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology this year along with a double minor in Biology and Mathematics. He has been on the dean's list every semester.

Coirin Named to National Honor Society of Collegiate Scholars

Mitchell Coirin, a member of the CCHS Class of 2009, has accepted membership in the National Honor Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS). Mitchell will be honored during an induction convocation at Boston University. NSCS is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is the nation's only interdisciplinary honors organizations for first and second year college students. Membership is by invitation only, based on grade point average and class standing.

Colonie High graduate, Melissa Pelletier, has been named a member of the 2010 Albany Tulip Queen court. The 20-year-old member of the Class of 2008 was honored in April as one of the five 2010 Tulip Queen finalists from about 100 nominations received this year. full story

Meaghan L. Fox, Class of 2006, was selected as one of Northeastern University's “2010’s 100 Most Influential Seniors” for the 2009-2010 academic year. This esteemed list of the top seniors were recognized at a special reception at the home of President Joseph Aoun, on April 12. Meaghan is the daughter of Judith and Patrick Fox, 8 Gaslight Drive, Albany. She was a 2006 Honors graduate of Colonie Central High School. She will be a Northeastern University May 2010 graduate, B.S. English/Biology/Pre-Medical Studies. full story
