ESL Families Celebrate at End of Year Picnic and Awards Ceremony
Posted on june 8, 2011
The 19th annual ESL (English As a Second Language) picnic was held at Sand Creek Middle School on June 2. Families of South Colonie ESL students from throughout the district gathered together for a pizza dinner, outdoor fun, and an awards ceremony celebrating the students’ progress in ESL during the 2010-2011 school year. The evening concluded with a song sung by the elementary ESL students called “Hello To All The Children Of The World”. The song emphasized how similar all children are regardless of their cultural backgrounds. The ESL picnic began 19 years ago with the goal of providing families of ESL students with the opportunity to meet and socialize with one another and to celebrate their children’s achievements. Once again, this year’s picnic was a great success! view a photo gallery
