The South Colonie Board of Education presented a President’s Spotlight Award Oct. 22 to bus driver Michael Link and routing specialist Brian Sim, commending them for their exceptional handling of a medical emergency on the school bus in early October.

Mr. Sim did an outstanding job remaining calm and effectively communicating with Mr. Link and other bus drivers in the area to address the emergency, transfer and re-route the children, and delivering everyone safely to school. Mr. Link held a calm, cool demeanor throughout the entire emergency.

Colonie Police Lieutenant Henry Rosensweig was at the scene and said that Mr. Link’s actions set the tone for all of the students on the bus, and that he could not have managed the situation any better.
