It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our former superintendent, Dr. Valentino Fioravandi Tebbano. Dr. Tebbano, who served as a dedicated educator and leader in our school district, peacefully passed away on Nov. 30, surrounded by his loving family.

Dr. Tebbano’s impact on South Colonie was profound and enduring. His 20-year commitment as both the principal of West Albany Elementary School and subsequent tenure as superintendent from 1978 to 1982 helped shape the educational landscape of our school community. His passion for learning and mentorship touched the lives of countless students and educators far beyond South Colonie.

Outside of his professional accomplishments, Dr. Tebbano was a devoted family man, as evidenced by his loving wife, Grace, and their five children. His dedication to both his family and our community reflects a life well-lived and a legacy that will be remembered fondly.

“As we remember and celebrate Dr. Tebbano’s life, we extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends,” said Dr. Perry, superintendent of schools. “His loss is felt not only by those who knew him personally but by the entire South Colonie community. We are grateful for his dedication to education, his impact on the lives of countless students—and his commitment to the betterment of our district.”

Details for the memorial service, where we will come together to honor and remember Dr. Tebbano, are provided in the obituary. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the Teresian House Foundation.
