Scalise’s story is one of resilience and strength. She faced the daunting challenge of breast cancer head-on while she was pregnant, showing unwavering determination throughout her battle. Her journey serves as an inspiration not only to her colleagues at Shaker Road School but to all cancer survivors.

This year, the Shaker Road School community rallied behind Scalise and her family to raise more than $11,000 in honor of her, marking a special moment of unity and support. The effort was led by a team known as “Never Give Up,” embodying the fighting spirit and unyielding resolve that Scalise had shown throughout her battle with cancer.

The outpouring of support and generosity from friends, colleagues, and well-wishers has been remarkable. The community came together to contribute towards the cause, raising $11,593 to support cancer research, patient care, and the fight against this relentless disease.

In a heartfelt message to the Shaker Road school community, Scalise expressed her gratitude for the incredible show of support, saying, “Just wanted to share with you all the funds that were raised this year for team Never Give Up. With the help of so many of you and others! Thank you all for the continued support year after year!”

The anticipation is building as the community gears up for the annual cancer walk, which is set to take place in Albany’s Washington Park this weekend. Scalise, along with three other remarkable women, will be honored during the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event.
