Colonie Central High School Athletic Hall of Fame Welcomes Class of 2020 and 2021 at Fall Induction Ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 7 at the Colonie Central High School Auditorium.

The Colonie Central High School Athletic Hall of Fame welcomed its newest members to both the Class of 2020 and the Class of 2021 during the fall induction ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 7. The list includes athletes, coaches, teams, and sports contributors who have made a significant impact on the Colonie Central High School Athletic program.

Hall of Fame Class of 2020 inductees included:

    • Barry Brown, 1962
    • Michele Karangwa (Blot), 2020
    • Caitlin Cucchiella (Colfer), 2005
    • 1999 Girls XC Team, 1999
    • Dennis Foley, 1994
    • Paul Gerstenberger, 2005
    • Matt Stenglein, 2001
    • Arthur Hutton,  1940

Hall of Fame Class of 2021 inductees included:

    • Frank Myers, 1963
    • Don Myers, 1967
    • Don Mion, 1970
    • Leo Carignan, 1961
    • Harold ‘Pep’ Sand, 1947
    • David A. Gamble, 1989
    • Paul Gansle, 1960

An induction ceremony was held in the Colonie Central High School Auditorium. Master of Ceremonies was Rodger Wyland, WNYT Channel 13 Sports Director. The Colonie Central Chamber Singers performed the National Anthem and CCHS Alma Mater. South Colonie Athletic Director William Roemer presented the Athletics Hall of Fame plaques.

“The idea behind the Athletic Hall of fame is to honor past athletes and their accomplishments, “ said William Roemer, athletic director. “Each of the individuals or groups who have received this honor has been recognized for achievements that foster pride, display good sportsmanship, and support citizenship in our schools and throughout the community. All of these are characteristics that set the example for current and future Colonie athletes.”
