Colonie Central High School’s Caleb Eastman has been selected as one of the winners for the 2023-24 academic year, receiving the National Football Foundation (NFF) and College Hall of Fame Scholar-Athlete Award. This prestigious honor recognizes outstanding football players from each of the 53 schools in Section 2.

“Caleb’s achievements, both on the football field and in the classroom, have set him apart from a pool of strong student-athletes from Section 2,” said CCHS Football Coach Gregory Bearup. “The NFF’s Executive Committee of the Capital Region Chapter carefully reviewed the accomplishments of 53 named scholar-athletes before singling out ten overall winners including Caleb, a distinction that reflects his level of commitment both on and off the field.”

This recognition places Eastman’s name on the national list of 2023-24 Scholar-Athlete Award winners, a group that will be permanently showcased in the College Football Hall of Fame in South Bend, Indiana. The honor not only solidifies Eastman’s legacy at Colonie but also serves as an inspiration for aspiring student-athletes nationwide.

The Capital Region Chapter of the NFF is gearing up to host a celebratory luncheon in March, providing a platform to honor the outstanding achievements of this year’s scholar-athletes. The event has become a highlight on the academic calendar, bringing together a community of individuals dedicated to both athletic excellence and scholarly pursuits.

During the luncheon, Caleb Eastman and his fellow winners will receive special recognition, underscoring their exceptional contributions to the world of football and academics.

“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Caleb for this well-deserved honor,” added Bearup. “We are looking forward to celebrating him and the other winners at the luncheon this spring.”
