The Veeder Elementary School cafeteria was packed with parents and kindergartener for a night of learning and fun this winter. Veeder Kindergarten teachers hosted the second session of their Kindergarten Literacy Night on January 30th. The theme of the night was word work. The students came to this session and showed their parents how they practice words by playing games. Each teacher had a table filled with a variety of ways to reinforce sight words taught in class. The parents were encouraged to get their hand “dirty” at the tactile and Play Doh stations. Students showed how they can make new words in a “make and break” station and what to do with words they know in their guided reading books. Another station was filled with homemade games like go fish, tic-tac-toe and Connect Four. Parents were excited to learn how easy it is to make learning fun.
