Sand Creek
Middle School teachers Mrs. Shank, Mr. Luke, Mr. Pickett,
and Mrs. McKenna recently brought their sixth
grade classes to the Bright Horizons Program at the Pine Grove
Methodist Church to participate and assist at
their annual Christmas party. Also accompanying the students
were Nina Woodard, the school nurse, and Sand Creek’s social
worker Donna Davidson. Bright Horizons at Pine Grove provides a
great social and safe environment for its members, while also
providing peace of mind for caregivers. Santa Claus joined the
students in helping to make this year’s Christmas party a
special one. After joining the BHP members for a holiday
sing-along, students assisted Santa in handing out gifts to the
members. They also distributed juice and cookies and shared in
great conversations with the members. The morning ended with a
game of Bingo in which the students assisted some of the members
in marking their Bingo boards. This was a wonderful experience
for both the seniors and the students alike. Many new
friendships were formed and there were lots of smiles and hugs
shared before the students left. Upon their return to school,
the students reflected on their visit while enjoying a formal,
catered luncheon in their classroom.
