Foundations in Art

These art drawings are from students in Patrick Kelley's Foundations in Art class at Colonie Central High School. They are from a lesson called "Green Eggs and Ham." The object is to select a food item and paint it while shifting the colors on the color wheel. The resulting painting changes the hue while maintaining the values and textures of the food selected. Foundations in Art is offered to CCHS students in grades 9-12 and is the only Art offering that satisfies the Art/Music requirement for graduation. This is a survey course that covers the range of art mediums. Students explore broad areas of drawing, painting, two and three dimensional design. The course encourages students to increase their powers of observation and their ability to think creatively.
