Foundations in Art

These at drawings are from students in Christina Mathieu's Foundations in Art class at Colonie Central High School. Foundations in Art is offered to CCHS students in grades 9-12 and is the only Art offering that satisfies the Art/Music requirement for graduation. This is a survey course that covers the range of art mediums. Students explore broad areas of drawing, painting, two and three dimensional design. The course encourages students to increase their powers of observation and their ability to think creatively. The first 8 photos feature still life drawings using line as value. The next 7 photos feature tree abstraction drawings using line in the style of Piet Mondrian.
