Advanced Studio in Drawing and Painting
This photo/art gallery features multiple layer underpaintings in gray tones created by high school students from the Advanced Studios in Drawing and Painting class taught at by Thomasa Nielsen. The students applied multiple layers of transparent acrylic paint as they work to make "Baroque-style" still life paintings. Some images show the work as they add color layers...although none were finished yet. All the students started with still life photos done with dramatic lighting. Overall, this course focuses on mastery of drawing and painting, along with developing an understanding of how Renaissance and Baroque art styles have influenced the development of painting. Students develop a thorough knowledge of the steps involved in designing original work. Students use online and digital resources in their work. The primary mediums used in this course are pencil, watercolor and acrylic. In this course, students develop a college entry portfolio.
