South Colonie Families Celebrate 18th Annual ESL Picnic

South Colonie families celebrated the 18th annual ESL Picnic at Sand Creek Middle School in June. Families of ESL students from throughout the district gathered together for a pizza dinner, outdoor fun, and an awards ceremony celebrating the students’ progress in the ESL program this school year. The evening concluded with a song sung by the elementary ESL students called, “Hello to All the Children of the World”. The song emphasized how similar all children are regardless of their cultural backgrounds. The ESL picnic began 18 years ago with the goal of providing families of ESL students with the opportunity to meet and socialize with one another and to celebrate their children’s achievements.
