Forest Park Elementary School raised more than $200 in support of Relay for Life on May 1 by "painting" the school purple. As a lifelong participant, Serinda in Mrs. Meyer’s second grade class wanted to raise awareness about cancer research and share her goal of raising $100 toward her family’s Relay for Life team. Board of Education Approves School Day Schedule Changes For September

The South Colonie Board of Education has approved a plan (pdf) for next September to change the starting and ending times of some of its schools. The change, the result of an ongoing transportation study, is expected to save on overall transportation costs by lowering the number of daily bus runs and provide more time between runs for drivers to transport students to and from school. full story

Third Grader Helps to Fund the Children's Hospital at Albany Med

A local third grader is helping to fund the Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center, one donation at a time. Forest Park student Emma Zalucky donated more than $500 to the hospital. The funds were raised by students, teachers and parents from her school, and Emma even contributed some of her own money from birthday and Christmas gifts. view TV report
