15th Annual Car Show Postponed Until June 1

The 15th annual Car Show sponsored by the CCHS Technology Department has been postponed until June 1, 4-7 p.m. Featured will be antique and special interest vehicles, and an electric vehicle on loan from New York State, along with the latest GM offerings courtesy of DeNooyer Chevrolet. iCARE Collecting Gently Used Books in May

Through South Colonie iCARE's initiative of supporting and educating our community on local poverty and hunger issues, the group is now partnering with another local agency to support literacy through the use of backpack programs in Albany County. Grassroot Givers (www.grassrootgivers.org) is a not-for-profit that coordinates with other agencies such as the Homeless and Travelers Aid Society to ensure students receive nutritional and educational nourishment. iCARE will be collecting new or gently used books through the month of May to support Grassroot Givers and the community at large. All books deemed appropriate from Pre-K to 12th grade are welcome. Please drop off book donations in the main entrance of Colonie Central High School.

Eight Colonie Central High School varsity sports teams received Scholar Athlete distinction this fall. Scholar Athlete teams earn this award for having 75% of their team's roster average a 90% GPA or higher. Overall, 60% of all CCHS varsity athletes this fall carried a GPA of 90% or higher.

The Colonie United Patriot Challenge, a competitive Obstacle Course Challenge including stations run by the Army National Guard, was held on Nov. 5 at the Crossings. iCARE Kicks Off Two-Year South Colonie Anti-Poverty Campaign

iCARE Earns $500 Donation in Honor of CCHS Graduate Cogan

Cogan, Class of 2016, was recognized last school year for outstanding student involvement through the "13 Kids Who Care" program sponsored by WNYT Channel 13, the Times Union and St. Peter's Health Partners.
