School Libraries

library frameworks logoWelcome to South Colonie School Libraries.  Our libraries  provide learners with access to resources and technology, connecting classroom learning to real-world events.

School librarians empower students to Think, Create, Share, and Grow in the school library as they learn to harness curiosity, model responsibility, inspire exploration, promote creativity, and deepen understanding. School libraries create equity and prepare all learners for college, career, and life.

Student outcomes improve when parents are involved. Ask your school librarian how you can support learning in school and at home.

American Association of School Librarians Standards Framework

South Colonie School Libraries follow the American Association of School Librarians Standards Framework for Learning. The AASL Standards framework reflects a comprehensive approach to teaching and learning by demonstrating the connection between learner, school librarian, and school library standards. Three sets of standards (Learner, School Librarian, and School Library) make up the AASL Standards Integrated Framework featured within the National School Library Standards. Use the resources below to familiarize yourself with the structure and get started using the standards in your practice.
