Fourth
Graders Show Their Generosity With Bottle Drive To Fight
Juvenile Arthritis
Students in Mrs. Panucci’s fourth grade class at Veeder Elementary School decided to take December’s character education word “Generosity” one step further than just learning about its meaning.
When introducing what generosity is and why it’s important the class decided that it could do more than just learn about the word; they could perform acts of generosity themselves. The class’ decision was to hold a bottle drive and ask classmates and Veeder families to donate bottles and cans that could be returned for a deposit.
The funds raised would then be used to
donate to the cause of their choice. The collection lasted for
20 days and the class raised $131.40 by collecting 2,628 cans.
The class will donate the proceeds to the Juvenile Arthritis
Foundation in honor of one of their classmates who has Juvenile
Arthritis.
