Shaker Road One School, One Book Movement

Shaker Road Elementary School kicked off its brand new reading campaign for the month of March - the One School, One Book movement. Only 15 schools in New York State have participated in the program. Shaker Road’s PTA generously purchased a copy of the book for every student, who spent this week guessing what book the school would be reading together with a series of clues put up by Mrs. Berner. Board of Education Approves School Day Schedule Changes For September

The South Colonie Board of Education has approved a plan (pdf) for next September to change the starting and ending times of some of its schools. The change, the result of an ongoing transportation study, is expected to save on overall transportation costs by lowering the number of daily bus runs and provide more time between runs for drivers to transport students to and from school. full story

Homework Helpers Available at Town Library

Volunteers from both South and North Colonie high schools are available at the Colonie Town Library on Monday evenings and Tuesday afternoons to help kids in third grade and up with their homework. The session runs through the end of March, with no classes over February break week. more information (pdf)
