Shaker Road Hosts Camp Invention

Students from South Colonie and schools across the Capital District participated in Camp Invention at Shaker Road Elementary School this month. During this STEM enrichment camp, students made cars that would navigate an obstacle course, built shields to keep them dry during hydro challenges, constructed prototypes of their inventions, and much more. Childcare Form Due August 12

Childcare forms must be returned to the elementary schools no later than August 12. All forms received after this deadline may not be provided busing. The Transportation Department will not be able to accommodate bus/route changes for at least two weeks after school begins. It will be the responsibility of the parent/guardian to transport their child to and from school/childcare until those changes can be completed as passes will not be permitted during this time. childcare form (pdf)

Board of Education Approves School Day Schedule Changes For September

The South Colonie Board of Education has approved a plan (pdf) for next September to change the starting and ending times of some of its schools. The change, the result of an ongoing transportation study, is expected to save on overall transportation costs by lowering the number of daily bus runs and provide more time between runs for drivers to transport students to and from school. full story
