Shaker Road Earns $500 Grant Through Red-Kap to Fund Math and Science Initiatives
For the second time in the past three years, Red-Kap owner, Jon Kaplan, has successfully nominated Shaker Road Elementary School for a $500 grant from the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance (EMEA).
The EMEA grants are provided to schools that have been nominated by ExxonMobil vendors all across the country. In the grant application process, Mr. Kaplan worked with Shaker Road Principal William Dollard to identify how the grant could benefit the school program in the study of Math and Science.
"The education of a community's children involves many partners in a collaborative effort," Dollard explained. "School personnel have the opportunity to help students grow each school day. Parents work hard to build on the lessons their children are provided with at school. And community partners, good neighbors like Red-Kap, take an active role in supporting the students and their families through generous support like the EMEA grants."
"Red-Kap help to fill the gaps that have been created by recent economic difficulties and drastic cuts to education by New York State," Dollard added, "Where neighbors step up to provide meaningful support to the education of the children in a neighborhood, you will find a wonderful school community. Shaker Road staff and students feel most fortunate to be a part of just such a community."
The ExxonMobil Educational Alliance will provide grants to nearly 3,000 schools this year, further evidence of their commitment to support the school children in hundreds of neighborhoods across the country. But without the deliberate efforts of the folks at Red-Kap and Shaker General, Shaker Road does not get one of those grants.
