District/Village Collecting Supplies To Help Schoharie County Flood Victims
The South Colonie school community is stepping up to help its neighbors.
In the aftermath of both Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee, which devastated hundreds of families in Schoharie County with severe flooding, the School District and the Village of Colonie have set up collection stations at any of the eight school buildings, the bus garage, the District Office, and the Village of Colonie Family Recreation Center.
Families in the Middleburgh and Schoharie school districts, many of which have lost everything, are in need of non-perishable items, and disaster crews and volunteers are in need of supplies to help in the clean-up efforts.
The collection stations will be set up in the above locations for two weeks – September 19th to September 30th.
The most highly sought-after items include:
Cleaning/Other Supplies: Rubber gloves, paper face masks, mops (new), paper towels, buckets (new), shovels, garbage bags, brooms (new), staple guns and staples.
Personal Care Items: Toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, soap, shampoo, hand sanitizer, disposable razors, hand wipes, bandages, first aid kits, antibiotic skin cream, and vitamins.
Baby care products: diapers, baby wipes, baby shampoo, formula, powdered milk, canned juices, canned vegetable, and canned fruit.
A donation of
any item is greatly
appreciated. In advance, the Village and the school district
thank you for your support.
