South Colonie Captures Three Awards in NYS Communications Contest
The South Colonie Central School District has captured three awards in the 32nd annual Communications Contest sponsored by the New York School Public Relations Association (NYSPRA).
The district earned an Award of Excellence in Writing for the April, 2011, story: "The Wheels On Old School Bus No. 55 Keep Going 'Round and 'Round," an Award of Honor for its postcard (pdf) celebrating the district website's first birthday in March, 2011, and an Award of Merit for the overall design and function of the South Colonie website.
About one-third of the more than 300 NYSPRA entries earned awards in 2011 in a closely drawn judging by communications professionals from around the country. For more on the contest, click here. Awards will be presented to winners at the 2011 NYSPRA Awards Luncheon on October 28, during the 2011 convention of the New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA) in Buffalo.
This is the third prestigious award for the South Colonie website since its redesign and re-launched in March, 2010. The website captured an earlier NYSPRA Communications Award last September, and in June, 2010, the website earned a National Award of Merit in the 2010 Publications and Electronic Media Contest sponsored by the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA). There were more than 800 entries in the national contest, open to all public and private school districts in the United States. The district web site was recognized in NSPRA's Internet/Intranet School Web Sites category. For more on the new web site, click here.
