Attention Seniors: School Parking Permit Applications Available August 25

Attention CCHS Seniors: Parking permit applications will be available in the Attendance Office beginning August 25th. The following documents will be needed at time of registration to obtain a parking permit: your driver’s license, NYS vehicle registration, NYS insurance identification card and a $20 registration fee. Questions about parking permits should be directed to Mr. Nicholson at the high school.

Pre-Ordered Graduation DVDs Now Available at CCHS

Pre-ordered DVDs of the 2010 graduation ceremony are now available for pickup at the CCHS Attendance Office.

Summer School Class Information

South Colonie Schools is offering summer school classes for students in grade 7-12, Monday through Friday, July 7 to August 16, and an abbreviated summer school schedule for grades 5-6, Monday through Thursday, July 6 to July 29 and Monday through Friday, August 2-6. Registration was held in June. Special Education classes are held July 6 to August 13 at Forest Park Elementary School. For a summer school brochure, click here (pdf).

South Colonie Tech Valley High School student Cody Bellair will visit China this summer as part of an elite educational/cultural program. full story

State Ed Considering Eliminating Some State Testing Due to Budget Crisis

The New York State Education Department is considering eliminating some state testing next school year due to the state's looming fiscal problems and lack of a state budget. The State Board of Regents voted on June 22 to approve two sets of strategies to achieve cost reductions in the state assessment program. Part of that strategy includes eliminating the January, 2011, Regents exams, fifth and eighth grade Social Studies assessments as well as a variety of state exams in Foreign Language, math and science. full story
