Colonie Central High School soon-to-be sophomore, Lisa D’Ippoliti, had the honor of performing this summer at an area naturalization ceremony in which 58 people became citizens of the United States of America.
Lisa, 14, who has appeared on the stage many times as a singer, dancer and actress since she was 3-years-old, was selected to perform in August by the Honorable Mae A. D'Agostino , of the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York.
The naturalization ceremony began with opening remarks from Judge D'Agostino, who then invited Lisa to sing the National Anthem. Following the National Anthem, the new citizens took an oath of allegiance to the United States while Lisa sang God Bless America.
Lisa was then asked to help Judge D'Agostino hand out to the new citizens their certificates of citizenship. Lisa closed the ceremony with a patriotic song of her choice, A Grand Old Flag. The new citizens proudly participated by waiving their flag as Lisa sang.
Lisa has had a busy year as a performer,
auditioning and joining the Colonie Chamber Singers. She also
auditioned for the Colonie Idol competition in the spring and
was the only freshman to make the top 10, finishing in second
place overall.
