Jeremy CarrollCCHS Alum Dies in Motorcycle Accident Sunday Evening

Colonie Central High School mourns the death of one of its graduates, Jeremy Carroll, Class of 2009, who died in a motorcycle accident on August 7 near the intersection of New Karner Road (Rt. 155) and Wembley Court. He was pronounced dead shortly after 5:35 p.m.

Friends have set up a memorial page for Carroll on Facebook. Visit the page by clicking here.

Investigators said Jane Murray, 51 of Albany, was turning left into 431 New Karner Road when the biker collided with her car. She was taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital with back and abdominal pain as well as cuts to her arm.

The incident is still under investigation, but Colonie Police said the biker was wearing a helmet and "witnesses state he was traveling at a high rate of speed just prior to the crash."

Murray was wearing a seatbelt. The impact was enough to deploy airbags in her car. Police and the Midway Fire Department closed New Karner Road for over three hours while responding to the crash.

According to Carroll's Facebook page, which features numerous pictures of his motorcycle (an orange, 2009 Yamaha R6 he obtained in the spring), he had worked as a carpenter at Amber Jack Construction since 2008. CCHS counseling records show he earned a GED in 2008 as well. He also attended Lisha Kill Middle School.

This marks the second death in the South Colonie family in a week. Last Sunday, July 31, 13-year-old Lisha Kill Middle School student, Sierra Berhaupt, died while swimming at her family swimming pool on Thoroughbred Lane. The death was ruled an accidental drowning. Her services were held over the weekend.
