Graduate, Bogardus, Dies in Car Accident

Colonie Central High School mourns the loss of 1990 graduate, Jeffrey Bogardus, who died October 5th as a passenger in an automobile accident in Latham.
Bogardus, 39, of Colonie, was pronounced dead at Albany Medical Center after the crash on Old Niskayuna Road near Runaway Avenue about 8:20 p.m. Police said the driver, 27-year-old Ryan Newman from Greenville, was headed west on Old Niskayuna Road when he lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree. Newman was also taken to Albany Medical Center with nonlife-threatening injuries, the Times Union reported. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
According to his Facebook page, Bogardus worked as a leader/welder/MRI repairer at Philips Medical Systems, Latham, since 1999. He attended Hudson Valley Community College for a time, and studied at Modern Welding School in Schenectady in 1996. His interests were automobiles, his dogs, playing the guitar, target practice and riding his motorcycle.
