Board of Education Honors Students For Academic, Athletic and Volunteer Achievement

The South Colonie Board of Education honored several student groups for academic, athletic and volunteer achievements during the 2010-11 school year at its June 7th meeting at Colonie Central High School.

Special President's Spotlight Awards were handed out by Board President Brian Casey to the following groups/individuals:

2011 Participants From the District's Alternative Education Programs

Central Avenue Learning Center (CALC) Principal Randy Rench, who also oversee other South Colonie Alternative Education programs, was on hand with a group of students who were enrolled in one of the district's satellite education programs for all or part of the 2010-11 school year.

Honored were: Sara Allen, Xavier Brooks, Valerie Burnley, Steven Carbonaro, Ashley Discipio, Ashleigh Oneal-Grant, Michael Kenific, Lauren Lamere, Gregory Lewis, Brayden McKinney, Derek Murray, Jordan Nelson, Matthew Pagan, Thomas Pascariello, Anthony Tasso, Michellee Velez, Kelly Webster, Amanda Waterson and Kelvin Whittingham.

Colonie Central High School Grade 9 Advisory Team

Honored was the CCHS Grade 9 Advisory Team. This group of students work as volunteers to help new ninth graders successfully transition into the high school setting both academically and socially. Honored were: Teacher James Vadaro, Teaching Assistant Melissa McConville and students Heather Coirin, Marissa Gates, Chris Hilgenberg and Patrick Schroeder.

Sand Creek Middle School Community Service Project Volunteers

Sand Creek Middle School Associate Principal Jill Penn, teacher Melissa Moskov and student members of the Comet Team presented an overview of the many community service projects they undertook during the school year. Students participating in the presentation and honored by the school board were Maggie McDonald, Haleigh Zeilman, Ricki Umholtz, Mark Logiudice and Nahjeniq Buchanan.

Colonie Central High School Boys Bowling Team - New York State Champions

Members of the CCHS Boys Bowling Team, which captured the New York State Championship this winter, were honored by the school board. The team includes: Andrew Bennett, Corey Buckley, Noah Burke, Justin Carl, Justin Frey, Eric Kaminski, C.J. Leisenfelder, Andrew Mochrie, Tyler Mochrie, Charles Moeske, Matthew Olson, Jacob Rivers, Ricky Rovelli, Casey Schoonmaker, Nick Shaw, John Shaw and Shane Zeswewitz.

Colonie Central High School Girls Bowling Team - New York State Champions

Members of the CCHS Girls Bowling Team, which captured the New York State Championship this winter, were honored by the school board. The team includes: Sarah Brooks, Stephanie Buckley, Kalynn Carl, Tamara Champagne, Sara Colino, Amanda Gabriel, Lindsay Gravell, Tiera Gulum, Jennifer Lynch, Hannah Mochrie, Nichole Rhynders, Megan Rzeszuto and Cassidhe Whalen.
