General Band Instruction by Grade Level
South Colonie offers large group instrumental music instruction on woodwind, brass and percussion instruments at the middle and high school levels.
Lisha Kill and Sand Creek Middle Schools offer bands for grade 5-8. The bands meet every other day for 40 minutes. Grade 5 and 6 bands perform two or three concerts each year. Grade 7 and 8 bands perform three concerts each year. The schools each offer group instrumental lessons - one 30-minute lesson every five or six days. Lessons follow a rotating schedule.
The high school offers Concert Band (9), Symphonic Band (10-12), Wind Ensemble (10-12 – selected by audition). Bands meet daily for 40 minutes and perform four concerts per year. Small group or private lessons are also offered - one 20-minute lesson per six-day rotation.
