Textbooks to be loaned to private and parochial school students for the 2014-2015 school year must be picked up at the textbook depository located at Shaker Road Elementary School, using Kings Court entrance, according to the following schedule: 9 a.m.-noon, and 1-3 p.m., Aug. 26-28. The South Colonie Central School District has captured two awards for Communications Excellence in the 2014 Publications and Electronic Media Contest sponsored by the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA). The district earned national awards for its new District Brochure (pdf) and this District website for overall news content, functionality and display. There were 725 entries overall in this year's contest.
The NYS Department of Health (DOH) has revised immunization requirements for school attendance to be consistent with recommendations from the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP). The new requirements took effect on July 1 and were developed to reduce the number of vaccine-preventable diseases, such as measles and whooping cough. No new vaccines are required, but the number of doses required and the time intervals between doses has changed. view new immunization requirement forms by grade
Longtime South Colonie administrator, Dr. David Perry, Ph D., has been appointed to a new position at the District Office. Perry is the new Director of Human Resources, Safe Schools & Information Technology, replacing David Seaver who is retired June 30. The appointment is effective today, July 1. full story
